One might wonder what are the newest add-on to the line of TT two+two-seater coupes and two-seater roadsters that they have to even add a ‘RS' appellative to the relatively long running series of TTs.
Firstly, this is the only instance where technology and power has been added in the TT line. Although all of the TTs have Quattro drives, most commonly the 250PS models with the 3.2-liter, powering such Quattros in the new RS is a new longitudinally mounted 450Nm, five cylinder, turbocharged 340PS, and 2.5-literpetrol engine. It's a legacy from the well-known Quattro of the 80's along with its 309Nm / 220PS, five cylinders and 2.2-liter petrol engine and the signature of Audi in many of Quattro's all-wheel drive.
The addition of a direct injection and turbocharged petrol engine delivers a great amount of torque of a relatively low rev speed into the famous aluminum and light steel hybrid body of such car. This then gives a huge power to weight ratio without sacrificing traction due to its all-wheel drive function. The TT RS is the only car to offer this feature in its group.

One of the perks of the aluminum steel hybrid body design is weight balance, which is perfect and with Quattro drive giving optimum traction to all wheels. You can truly feel that the engine is responsive from 0 or in a much higher 3-figured speed. Whatever speed you may be driving, the performance is economical and just brilliant.
Another new feature to the Quattro heritage is the booming sounds coming from the exhaust mechanism of a straight-five engine. With the "Sport button", not only will you be able to sharpen the throttle reaction to but also opens a panel in the left tailpipe to increase the exhaust sound. When you go for the optional magnetic drive damping mechanism, the button also sets off this mechanism's sport configuration to maximize agility and composure. The TT RS line of course has Electronic-Stabilization Software and custom add-ons to suit your needs. You can add 19-inch wheels, bucket seats with folding backrests, custom styling packs and custom interior inlays or even change the factory-custom rear spoiler with a more discreet type that retracts and rises automatically at extra cost, in addition to the latest navigation and multimedia options.
Under normal road conditions the 0-62mph time is just 4.6 seconds and goes all the way to the 155mph top speed in a short while, though with the addition of over £1000, the limiter could be reprogrammed to go well over 174 mph. The combined fuel economy is 31mpg, the CO2 emission is 214g/km and there is a six-speed manual only transmission. There is no DSG option since there is no gearbox available that will both take the torque and fit the compact architecture.
Describing the new RS versions of the TT is all about figures so we have monumental power to weight ratio, we have style - in short, it is the fastest car in its class for top speed and acceleration, the most economical and the cleanest for CO2 emissions. In the TT RS range, this one has become an icon at the same times packs a punch to live up to the Quattro legacy.
